Soroti University has received a brand-new ambulance, procured with government resources, to enhance access to healthcare services for the university community and the surrounding community.

The Vice Chancellor, while handing over the ambulance to the university secretary, revealed that the ambulance is not only meant to serve Soroti university but the community that will enhance service delivery.
The accounting officer Mr. Oloya Stephen, while handing over the Ambulance keys to the medical officer, thanked the government for providing resources to procure that ambulance as part of the university fleet, and stressed the importance of responsible ambulance operation, including keeping the phone at all times. The ambulance was procured with resources from the government in the 2024/2025 financial year.

The Medical officer Soroti University Dr. Oluka Emmanuel revealed that the procurement of the ambulance is timely, with “the start of the art Class B, It is not just an ordinary vehicle”. It is equipped with facilities that can support safe delivery of mothers.
“The ambulance is equipped with advanced facilities, including equipment for safe delivery of mothers, and will also serve as a moving medical hospital and educational tool” he revealed.
The mechanical assistant revealed that the ambulance supplied by Toyota Uganda with specifications approved by Ministry of works and Ministry of Health is brand new with 4000cc engine, 4 WD, 2 fuel tanks and a warranty of 100.000 Kms or 3-years with 50.000 km free service. He revealed that contact includes training for five staff members, including drivers, mechanics, and caregivers.
