Thomas the V: A voice of leadership at Soroti University

Soroti University has a new guild president. Otim Thomas, a 3rd year medical student was declared the winner in a hotly contest elections recently, winning with 354 representing 53.4% against his closet rival Arikod Charles who garnered 309 votes representing 46.6% of the total votes, becoming the fifth guild president of Soroti University .

Durin the swearing in ceremony, Mr. Otim Thomas, pledged that his tenure as guild president will be marked by commitment, inclusivity and a strong vision for student empowerment. The student leadership continues to play a vital role in shaping campus life and representing the interests of the student body, bridging the gap between students and university administration while fostering a vibrant academic and social environment.

At the forefront of this leadership is a vibrant guild cabinet with the promise of transparency, accountability, and active engagement, ensuring that student voices are not only heard but acted upon.

The outgoing guild leadership, the Guild Government led by Ocen Wilfred spearheaded several initiatives aimed at improving student welfare, promoting student participation in academic programs, and supporting co-curricular activities that nurture talent and innovation. Ocen Wilfred has also been instrumental in organizing dialogue platforms where students can openly discuss their concerns with university management, community engagement and social responsibility.
