Soroti University acquires a bus.

Soroti university has added a bus to the fleet that will ease the transport operations in the university. The semi luxury 67-seater brand new bus UBP 365 Z which was procured at a cost of 656 million shillings, comes equipped with WIFI, Black box, two television sets, public address system with a warranty of one year or 100.000 Kms of distance covered.

The tender was awarded to Isuzu MAC East Africa. The bus technical specifications were designed by the Chief mechanical Engineer, ministry of works and transport.

Handing over the bus to the accounting officer, the vice chancellor advised the accounting officer to make sure the conditions for maintenance of the bus is adhered to.

He said the university fleet must be properly maintained and serviced timely to avoid breakdown. He cautioned the driver to always take the bus as his office and keeping it clean adding that a cost will be attached for any other entity who would want to use the bus.

 The contract manager Mr. Omoding Peter who is also the mechanical officer of the university, informed the university secretary that a professional bus attendant is required to help keep and maintain the bus clean.

The bus was procured by the resources provided by the Government of Uganda and will go a long way in easing the university transport challenges, helping the university students to access clinical areas.

Mr. Oluka Emmanuel the university driver, underwent a training to operate the bus. With driving permit class of DHM, he was assessed and cleared to be qualified to drive the bus.
