Vice President expresses concern over university stalled projects

The Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, Rtd. Maj. Hon Jesica Alupo has cautioned the university to desist from any form of corruption and promote the university.

Whenever I pass here going to my constituency, I have always observed no physical growth taking place that is why I wrote to the vice chancellor inviting myself to deliberately pass here and see.

The Vice President being briefed by the University Bursar on the status of the University stalled Anatomy block.

The VP advised the University to show transparency and efficient management to ensure the success and growth of the university. “Considering our history and what we have gone through as Teso, when other regions are walking, Teso must be running” she said.

Hon. Bosco Okiror, the Mp. Usuk County Bosco Okiror who is also the Chairperson Teso parliamentary group on his part urged the university to safeguard its reputation, emphasising the need for quality work to transform Teso.

The Vice chancellor Soroti University informed the Vice President that the university has not received allocation for infrastructure development for the past two financial years despite several meetings and promises. The VP promised to brief the President on the challenges facing the university.

The Anatomy block which was scheduled to be completed in 2022/2023 financial year.

The Anatomy block which forms part of the medical school once completed will have office space, lecture rooms, mortuary, laboratories, and library. It will ease pressure and allow the university to open new programs.
