The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) has intensified the rollout of the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system to government entities across the country as part of efforts to transform public procurement, improve efficiency and accelerate service delivery.
The team is currently at Soroti University conducting training for Heads of Departments from Soroti University, Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, Soroti District Local Government and Soroti City Council.
The e-GP system is a web-based platform designed to digitise the entire public procurement lifecycle, from planning and bidding to evaluation, contract award, contract management, invoicing and payment.

from The training, being conducted by Gita Hassan, John Robert Angiro and Irene Nakato from MoFPED, forms part of the Government’s broader public financial management and digital transformation agenda. The initiative is intended to address some of the challenges associated with the predominantly paper-based procurement system.

The e-GP system is expected to contribute to better value for money in public expenditure, faster procurement processes and improved access to government business opportunities by providing a single point of access to government procurement opportunities, published procurement plans, bid notices, evaluated bidder notices and awarded contracts.
The introduction of e-GP is also expected to generate efficiency gains, reduce procurement delays, minimise opportunities for corruption, increase bidder participation and strengthen transparency and accountability.
As government entities across the region transition from manual to electronic procurement, the reform is expected to reshape how public institutions plan, procure and manage goods, works and services, thereby promoting more efficient management of public resources.
