Soroti University on Tuesday hosted a delegation from Ndejje University on a partnership visit aimed at strengthening teaching and research capacities among Uganda’s universities, with a focus on advancing climate resilience and green energy solutions for farming communities.
The team was led by Christopher S Mayanja DVC-AA, Assoc. Prof Apolo Kasharu, Musinghi Cajo Francis, grants and partnership officer, Dr. David Talengera dean Faculty of Environmental and Agric sciences and Christopher Mayanja met the team from Soroti University to discuss the collaboration after the two universities won a grant to strengthen teaching and research in climate resilience and green solutions in the country.
The European Union is funding the project which will run up to 2030.

The project will include developing course contents that will address climate change and adopting green energy to fight global warming.
The visiting team was warmly received by the University management where both institutions shared experiences on teaching, research, innovation and governance.
During the meeting, Soroti University highlighted the institution’s growing focus on Science, Technology and Innovation incorporating climate resilience and green energy solutions in teaching and research. The delegation from Ndejje University commended the university’s progress and expressed interest in adopting best practices, particularly in engineering, community engagement and digital transformation.

The visit also featured a guided tour of key facilities, including medical and engineering laboratories, eLearning centre and the newly commissioned Anatomy block with the state of the art 20 capacity morgue that will provide body storage and autopsy services.
The partnerships among universities is critical in enhancing quality education, conducting joint research and grants implementation. The visit concluded with a commitment to explore future collaborations in joint research, proposal writing, staff exchange programmes and academic partnerships.
The visit marks a significant step towards fostering mutual growth and strengthening collaborations between Ndejje and Soroti.
