The Rotaract Club of Soroti University has installed its new president, H.E. Rtr. Nomwesigwa Shimon, with a renewed commitment to advancing environmental conservation, education, health and community service.

The fourth presidential installation, held on 22 August 2026 at Hursey Resort in Soroti City, marked a new chapter for the club as it reflects on its achievements and outlines priorities for the new year.
In her acceptance speech, the new president highlighted the importance of partnerships, particularly appreciating Soroti University for providing five acres of land for the club’s Green Park Project.
The Green Park Project, launched in 2024, aims to plant 20,000 trees and establish a green space for members of the university community to relax and interact.

Rotaract Projects Director, Rtr. Okiror Aldo, called for renewed collaboration with the University administration to revive the project, noting that some of the planted trees had not survived.
Beyond environmental conservation, the club continues to support education and health through initiatives including the Aloet Primary School Project, which offers educational scholarships to disadvantaged pupils with a minimum contribution of 27,000 UGX per member. Blood donation mobilisation and participation in community service activities, such as the upcoming Rotary Cancer Run scheduled for 3Oth August 2026.
In his testimonial speech, Rtr. Lawrence Olupot, the president of Rotary Club of Soroti Central, highlighted the value of Rotary service and reflected on the achievements of Rotary Club of Soroti Central, emphasising the role of service, partnerships and collective action in creating lasting community impact, such as the push for a blood bank in the Teso sub-regionthat resulted in the creation of Arapai blood bank.

The club patron, Professor Tushabe Florence, commended Rotaract for its contribution to leadership development at Soroti University, noting that nine Rotaractors have served in the University’s Guild Government.
The new leadership has pledged to build on previous achievements, strengthen partnerships and ensure that Rotaract projects deliver lasting impact within Soroti University and the wider community.
