SOROTI- The blend of modern architecture, engineering creativity and institutional identity now welcomes visitors to Soroti University through the striking new main gate, a defining landmark of the University, reflecting the institution’s growing profile, ambition and commitment to innovation.
Constructed by the National Housing and Construction Company (NHCC), a project fully funded by the Government of Uganda, the project offers more than an entrance, the new gate demonstrates how functionality can meet creativity to produce infrastructure that is both practical and visually distinctive, while carefully integrating engineering features, in contemporary design.

The project delivers more than a new entrance. It includes, a security house with a guardroom and detention room, 24hr 13 surveillance cameras, an independent solar power system, a security monitoring system, a perimeter fence and dedicated telephone facilities for communication within the gate complex.
While receiving the facility during the handover ceremony on Friday25th, Sept 2026, the Vice Chancellor described the completion as an important achievement for the growing institution.
Prof JR Ikoja, said the other University’s upcoming infrastructure projects include the Central Teaching Facility, School of Engineering and Technology block, National Teaching and Referral Hospital with the 500-bed capacity, and about 2000 student accommodation facilities to meet the university’s growing population needs.

As students, staff, visitors and members of the community pass through the gate, they encounter more than a physical structure. They encounter a symbol of a young university steadily transforming its physical environment while shaping a future anchored in knowledge, innovation and excellence.
The new gate adds a distinctive architectural identity to the University and strengthens the visual character of the campus while its imposing presence creates a memorable first impression for visitors arriving at Soroti University.
