June 12, 2026 – Soroti University nursing students have been challenged to redefine nursing as a career of leadership and innovation in global healthcare.
The call was made during the annual Nursing Students’ Dinner held on 12th June at Sun City Amusement Park, aimed at bridging the gap between the alumni, students and staff and also act as a mentorship opportunity for the students on career path and developments.

The Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Prof. Kabwigu Samuel, noted that nursing plays a central role in modern healthcare and urged students to pursue leadership and innovation in the profession.
Mr. Okiria Julius a senior lecturer reminded students of the clinical responsibilities ahead, emphasizing professionalism and discipline.
A senior principal nursing officer at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, Mrs. Agudo Cenelope, advised students on career growth, leadership, and financial planning after graduation.

The event did not only present a platform for motivation but also opportunity for students to showcase talent as Mr. Derrick Sebugabi a student of nursing delivered a captivating saxophone performance, highlighting the diverse talents within the student community.
