Soroti University has emerged champions in the inaugural Deposit Protection Fund (DPF) Higher Institutions Quiz 2026, with students showcasing wits, academic excellence, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing knowledgeable and competitive graduates.

After a series of highly competitive rounds, Soroti University team demonstrated outstanding performance and secured the championship title, making history as the first winners of the prestigious quiz.
The competition, which was held at Wash and Wills in Mbale City, attracted participants from Busitema University, Islamic University In Uganda, Kumi University and Soroti University.

The quiz sought to enhance awareness of the role of the Deposit Protection Fund in safeguarding depositors and promoting confidence in the financial sector.
Speaking after the victory, the Chief Executive Officer of the Deposit Protection Fund, Dr. Julia Clare Olima Oyet congratulated Soroti University team and their coach for the remarkable achievement, describing the triumph as a reflection of University’s dedication to academic excellence, critical thinking and holistic student development.

“This achievement is a testament to the quality of education and mentorship offered at Soroti University. We are proud of the team for representing the University with distinction and taking home this historic victory,” the DPF’s CEO said.
The winning team displayed exceptional knowledge, teamwork and confidence throughout the competition, outshining other contestants to claim the top honour.
The achievement adds to a growing list of accolades for Soroti University and underscores the institution’s mission of producing competent, innovative and socially responsible graduates grounded not only in their areas of academic pursuit but areas of finance banking and general knowledge and capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.
