From the Ultimate University quiz to athletics and student politics, Soroti University students are leaving nothing for others. The university students continue to shine in different disciplines as the Centre of academic excellence and innovation. The university’s determination to mentor the young generation to excel beyond academics to impact and transform their communities as innovators and creators is now beginning to bear fruits with students receiving awards and medals.

The latest to bring the trophy home is Bridget Ninusiima a 1st year medical who scooped the 1st runner up trophy during the Ultimate University quiz ozone category. Bridget represented the university in Ultimate University quiz competition organized by New Vision, Bank of Uganda and National Environment Management Authority NEMA. Soroti University scooped an award in the female category of the competition.

Another student Kasule John, 4th year medical student was elected 35th Uganda National Students Association, UNSA as the General secretary, an umbrella body that unites student leaders from universities and institutions across Uganda. An indication that Soroti university is a place that nurture students to excel in both academics and leadership. Grooming for the future.
Kasule John is also the current Soroti University 3rd guild speaker after being elected as the representative for persons with disabilities in the 2024 guild council.

Chelangat Specioza, Engineering student 4th year, won a medal during the 19th edition of Association of Uganda Universities Sports (AUUS) Inter university games at UCU, winning a bronze medal in a 10km race, a clear testimony that at Soroti university talents development is key.

Racheal Kakungulu 3rd year medical student voted in as Vice President Public Relations and Communication FUMSA.
This is a clear indication Soroti University has created an enabling environment for students to pursue interests outside just academics. Her leadership and advocacy skills saw the university selected to host the 2025 edition of Federation of Uganda Medical Students national medical quiz.
The event which will start from the 28th February to 2nd March 2025, will see the medical students from all over Uganda descend to Soroti University to showcase their exhilarating knowledge and prowess in medical quiz with Soroti University students promising unmatched wits. The Vice chancellor in his address during an interaction with the students encouraged them to explore various available opportunities to nurture their ambitions adding that the world is full of opportunities for growth and development. He pledged the university’s commitment to always students develop their talents.
