Soroti University Mourns Ms. Igwelu Hellen Florence

Hundreds of mourners on Monday 11th July, 2021 flocked St Paul Church Of Uganda Located in Cell A Moruapesur Ward Soroti City East Soroti City, to pay their last respects to the Soroti University fallen Staff, the Late Hellen Florence Igwelu, who succumbed to kidney failure due to hypertension and type two diabetes on 10st July 2021 at Mulago Refferal Hospital in Kampala after battling for her life for some time.

The function was graced by Soroti University leadership including the Vice Chancellor Prof. Robert Ikoja Odongo, University Secretary Mr. Shaban Oyare, University Bursar Mr. Magemeso Robert, Associate Professor for Computer Science Assoc. Prof. Florence Tushabe, Public Relations Officer Mr. Nyene Hassan Juma. University Librarian Mr. Econyu Stephen, Human Resource Officer Ms. Winnie Akiteng Belly,  Deputy Univerity Bursar Mr. Otim Gilbert and Many more.

The service was also attended by the Soroti City Woman MP. Achom Alobo Joan Among Other Politicians.

The Church Service

The Church service that was conducted physically and led by Rev. Omoding at the Church Grounds attracted Over 500 participants.

In his summon, Rev. Omoding told the congregation that as they mourn the departed pillar of Soroti University, they should remember that She is over and it is now about them.

In his key message, Rev.Omoding told mourners that they should know that death can strike any time imploring them to do the best for every day they live in order to build their spiritual capital.

Rev. Omoding said the greatest fear for humans is death because no one will ever get used to it nor get experience in it.

Speech by Vice Chancellor

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Robert Ikoja Odongo described the death of Igwelu Florence as a big loss to the Soroti University family.

“Igwelu was A very hardworking Employee and was the only Secretary who was professionally trained to work as a secretary and was deployed to work in the University Secretary’s office said Prof. Ikoja
