“I will forward your proposal” – His Excellency, Upender Singh Rawat
The India high commissioner to Uganda has pledged to recommend Soroti university to the Indian government in New Delhi for support in the development of physiotherapy department. This was revealed during his visit to the university last Tuesday 30th April, 2024.

This was revealed while on a visit to Soroti university on the invitation of the vice chancellor. His Excellency Upender Singh Rawat said he was happy to be visiting Soroti University and promised to forward the Soroti University proposal to his government in New Delhi and communicate any feedback to the university.
He advised the university to follow up with the ministry of education for a cover letter to accompany their proposal.
During his welcome remarks, the vice chancellor acknowledged the humble gesture by the Ambassador to visit the university saying it is the first time in the history of the university a foreign dignitary is visiting.
The visit follows a proposal submitted to the India high commission in Uganda by the university requesting for support to develop the physiotherapy department in the university.
The Vice Chancellor said there is only one government university producing undergraduate physiotherapists in the county, which he says in not adequate to cover the needs of the county. We need sufficient equipment to run the program.
The Vice chancellor also requested the Indian government to support in the other areas of food science and sports science especially cricket.
The Indian diplomat was taken on a guided tour of the university facilities.
